Our Young Marines are dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans. This is reflected through various national and local initiatives aimed at paying tribute to those who have served our country.
Annually, Young Marines across the nation visit significant historical sites like Iwo Jima, Japan; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Window Rock, Arizona, where they pay respects to veterans and their families.
During Veterans Appreciation Week in November, every Young Marines unit expresses gratitude for our veterans. Young Marines might send thank-you cards to hospitalized veterans, clean up the yards of disabled veterans, or attend community events to connect socially with local veterans.
Annual events include Navajo Code Talkers Day, where over 150 members honor the WWII Navajo communicators in Arizona, and the Reunion of Honor trips to Guam and Iwo Jima, where Young Marines assist and build lasting bonds with veterans of the pivotal battles there.
Additionally, Young Marines lead commemorations in Honolulu every December 7, remembering those affected by the attacks on Pearl Harbor with a wreath-laying ceremony. Attending the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade is a powerful experience for Young Marines.
The Honor Flights program allows Young Marines to welcome veterans as they arrive in Washington, D.C., and provide assistance during their visits to significant memorials like the WWII and Iwo Jima Memorials.
With your contribution, we help foster a sense of history, gratitude, and respect among our youth, ensuring that the legacy of our veterans is honored and preserved for generations to come.
Donations of every size help sustain these vital programs and the values they instill in the Young Marines. Thank you for your very kind support!
